Based on data primarily from English, the course will focus on core components of linguistic analysis, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. The goal is to prepare students for more elaborative and advanced studies in different subfields of linguistics in the forthcoming semesters. We will also examine topics such as language storage and access, language acquisition, language disorders, language variation and language contact.
